Security
The security of any website application is of prime importance to ensure that it stays live and responsive at all times, and that confidential information is not altered or stolen. Chameleon Net puts considerable resources into ensuring that all its systems are secure.
Physical Security
Only Chameleon Net support personnel can gain physical access to our servers. Telehouse maintains a security presence on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CCTV cameras are located throughout the hosting centre and swipe card access ensures no unauthorised personnel are able to access any restricted areas. The facility has multiple external power feeds, and is also supported by UPS and generator backup.
Firewall protection
Firewalls with tight security policies provide perimeter security to protect the servers from external attacks, such as hacking or Internet worms, and unauthorized access.
Server hardening
Chameleon Net maintains the security of all servers to a high level. When new servers are commissioned, they are locked down, and unnecessary software and services are removed or disabled, thereby reducing the vulnerability of the servers to external threats.
Patch installation
Chameleon Net regularly installs security patches and fixes on all servers.
Virus protection
Anti-virus software runs on all servers to automatically ensure they are protected against the latest viruses.
Secure remote administration
Server administration is carried out over a VPN (Virtual Private Network), which provides a restricted encrypted connection. This ensures that server administration access is not available to unauthorised users and data cannot be intercepted.
Fault tolerant hardware
Our hosting facility incorporates fault tolerance including server load balancing, hardware RAID arrays and multiple power supplies.
